Pre-sessional English Language

The pre-sessional English programme provided by Selected English Language Teaching System (SELTS UK) is an intensive course that is designed to improve your English skills, if need is felt. Please note that it is for those students who know English already but feel difficulty in expressing themselves in an academic environment. By no means have we targeted to teach English from scratch; just polish your skills and improve them to an acceptable academic standard.

As a pre-requisite this course must be taken before the start of the main course. This course is designed for a period of 3 months and we believe you should be able to reach a level at the end where you will be able to easily understand the lectures in English and compile reports after doing your study and research.

The course is full-time and you will study 16-21 hours per week. Throughout the course you will attend classes on writing, reading, listening and speaking skills. The course will also focus on key academic skills including research methods, note-taking, seminar skills, presentation skills, and academic vocabulary.

At the end of the course you will take an assessment from SELT UK and provided that you have passed it, you will continue on your main course of study. If you do not pass the first time, we will provide a further 2 weeks preparation class and you will re-sit the test.
